All Lodges have a history; defining events, and people that make them who they are. A few Lodge have a truly epic history and Akron Lodge is one of them. On October 21st the First Erie Team went on their official visitation. The Brothers warmly welcomed the team and shared a wonderful meal with us. The program was well attended and the team thanks Akron Lodge for their hospitality.
Akron Lodge’s first Master was Gen. Ely Parker. The student of Bro. Redjacket, he would go one to pen the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox Court House ending the Civil War. He would return home to upstate New York after the war. He was an active Mason and helped found Akron Lodge. He was also Chief of the Sencas amongst many other amazing achievements. Go out a visit Akron Lodge. They are a true gem of Masonic history and one of the last true community Lodges in Erie County.
