History was made this evening. On Saint John’s Day December 27, 2014, Freemasonry celebrated in 200th Anniversary in Erie County and the City of Buffalo. This was the first time that we as a Masonic Community in Western New York gathered for a Table Lodge as a whole. It was held at the former Ancient Landmarks Temple on 318 Pearl Street, the now the Century Grill. It has been some 30 years since Masonic activity of any sort was held at the Temple and 30 years. This was the perfect place to celebrate such a momentous event. The event was attended by some 55 Masons from First and Second Erie with many honored guests. Right Worshipful Michael E. Storck , D.D.G.M First Erie, acted as presiding Master with Right Worshipful Christopher Hough and myself as Wardens.
Though the former Lodge room has changed in the last 30 years it holds all of its architectural splendors and wonderful acoustics. The many toasts that were shared amongst the Brethren echoed so loudly they could be heard outside the building. The fellowship was very strong and with a few hiccups that any first time event of this scale will have, still the event went off very well. The feedback that has been received by many of the Brethren in attendance has been positive and wondering why we never did something like it before. I found myself wondering the same thing.
On a personal note. This event was a dream of mine. It was very fortunate that the 200th Anniversary coincided with the event, as a Districts’ Saint John’s Day Table Lodge was something being thought about. It was a joy to plan and organize. This was truly one of my most prized moments as my time as a Masons so far. Thank all those that supported this event. The success of this event was very encouraging. We learn with each event we hold, I can promise I have learned from this event and the next one will be even better.
Very Worshipful Daniel J. Di Natale
